Mattupetty dam: Almost 13 KM off the Munnar town, Mattupetty Dam is one famous holiday spot for tourists. This beautiful hill station is fringed in by Anamudi Peak covered with rippling slopes of tea gardens with an emerald lake in the middle of the place where people often indulge in speed boating. Carefully watch the stillness in the water; you will surely notice the rippling reflection of the lush tea gardens on the sides. The height at which Mattupetty is located is around 1,700 metres above sea level which makes the Dam to be one of the highest Dams in Munnar.

This is one of the main attractions in Munnar that goes on everyone’s to-do list because Mattupetty is a dream destination Munnar and the Dam falls during the course of the journey.  Just a few kilometres away from the Dam lies the lake which is settled amidst the tea gardens and Shola forest; one of the places to visit in Munnar that goes without even saying.

Photo point: This is a picturesque curve on the Nilgiri slopes is located at a distance of around 3 KM from Munnar on the way to the Top station and Mattupetti. Photo point simply justifies its name and if you do not think the location has nothing as such to offer while driving through the undulating plains, take a pause, come out of your car and get clicks here, you would notice how amazingly photogenic the place is.

The quivering leaves of the tea garden and the twittering brooks, the scenic hills and the floating clouds; everything in one frame, it is really an amazing location which make you involuntarily take out your camera.

Top station: The Top station is situated 32 KM off Munnar and as the name says it is the topmost point of Munnar. It is suggested that you may hire a cab and take this journey through the forest to reach the highest point in Munnar. Top station (1700m) falls on the Munnar-Kodaikanal road and is the highest point in Munnar which makes it a must visit.

As it is located right on the Kerala-Tamilnadu border, you get to witness the majestic spectacles of the valley of Theni district of Tamil Nadu. It was coined as “Top Station” after the highest railway station among those located in Kundala Valley.

2018 marked another flowering season of Neelakurinji flowers which bloom once in twelve years and it drowns the valley in a beautiful shade of light blue colour which is certainly not to be missed. Kurinjimala sanctuary is very near to Top station and is best visited from April to May.
